Class II Functional Appliances


MARA and Herbst appliances provide Damon practitioners with the leading non-compliance functional treatment of skeletal Class II malocclusions. Use of either appliance eliminates the need for headgear and in
many cases eliminates the need for surgery.

Herbst™ Bite Jumper

The Herbst is one of the most powerful appliances for supporting noncompliance, low-force treatment. In addition to the On-The-Archwire Herbst shown here, AOA also produces Herbst appliances for mixed and adult dentition for use before full fixed appliance treatment.

DAMON RETENTION SPLINT

Dr. Dwight Damon advocates the retention splint to prevent relapse following Class II, Class III, and bilateral crossbite treatment as well as for tongue training. The Damon Retention Splint holds teeth and arches in fully corrected relationship, reinforcing all elements of correction. Designed by Dr. Damon and manufactured to AOA’s exacting quality specifications.

  • Minimal vertical opening posterior to anterior accommodates airway slot.
  • Fabricated with tested and proven materials to ensure durability, functionality, and aesthetic appearance. Choose from three materials: hard pressure formed, dual hardness/soft liner and elastic silicone.

BONDED RETAINER

For most cases, the lower bonded retainer is used as a post treatment fixed appliance to ensure the permanence of anterior alignment. After providing AOA with a PVS or quality model, the doctor receives a transfer tray and bonded retainer.
